We live in a miraculous body — but very few have a clue to take advantage of its advantages. With the earliest stages of your physical formation, deep inside the womb, your hands were born from brain matter.

As an embryo, your hands were holding your brain — the nerves connected perfectly from the fingers and palms to the various lobes and functions of the brain. The hand-brain relationship is one of the great human advantages created in the early stages of our physical development.

The embryo then blossoms into the fetus. The nervous system has maintained its intricate connections by growing through the arms to the spine — then on to the glands and organs — back to the spine and on to the brain. In alternative healing — reflexology works with this intricate system of connections. In yoga, the mudras and the asanas (postures of the hands and the body) maintain the effectiveness of these contacts.
